It's a boy!

This is a Christmas morning picture in Yuma, December 2009.  Ethan and those hot yellow Spongebob pajamas.  He loved them.

Last year on THIS WEDNESDAY it was March 9th.  This was the big day.  We were set to find out whether our baby was a boy or a girl.  Marcus had class during the appointment, so he couldn't go.  I had decided a month or so before I was going to take all my kids with me to the appointment so they could have this experience.  It was so fun!    We all wanted another girl, except for Ethan.  He wanted a boy.  We made bets.  We all knew Ethan was going to be wrong.  It would be perfect-2 boys and 2 girls.
As the doctor came in, the room was a little crazy because I had three little ones--9,7 and 5.  The doctor had asked what they wanted the baby to be.  Parker told him he wanted it to be a girl so his little sister could have someone to play with. My doctor was great and was showing them all the parts of the baby.  The kids could not believe that was really the baby on the screen.  And listening to the heartbeat was amazing for them. Ethan started yelling, "It's a boy!  It's a boy!"  At the time the doctor was looking at the baby's brain and replied to Ethan, "You must know more than me because we haven't seen that yet."  Ethan insisted he was right.  We all claimed he was wrong because we wanted that girl.  But when the doctor saw the obvious boy part he just said, "Well, he was right!  It's a boy!"  You could see a little disappointment with Parker and Madilyn, but Ethan was ecstatic!  He was right and he was going to have a little brother.  Immediately Ethan knew the baby's name was Hawk.  That day he started calling him Hawk.
The last thing the doctor said to me was about Parker.  He said, "I've never heard a little boy respond that way to my question.  How sensitive that he cares so much about his sister."

What good kids I have.  Love you guys!
