This is my funny conversation with Madilyn the other day:
Madilyn: "Mom, the boys in class are kind of mean. The girls are really nice."
Me: "Oh, that's too bad, but I'm glad the girls are nice."
Madilyn: "I think girls get meaner as they get older, though."
Me: "Why do you say that?"
Madilyn: "Well, you are meaner than dad, so girls must get meaner as they get older."
Me: "Really, Madilyn?"
Madilyn trying to back track: "I don't mean to be rude, but you ARE meaner than dad."
Me in response to the unsuccessful backtracking: "You just have an EXCEPTIONALLY nice dad. I am not that mean."
Madilyn: "You know what I mean, mom."
Me: "I know. Dad's are always the party."
At least I know where I stand. I want to be the "mean" one. I don't think I'm that mean, but I know I am strict. I think teaching kids boundaries is important. I also know that I do have an exceptionally patient and loving husband. He was taught to be kind to a fault---and he is. That's why we love him.
This is so funny. I'm the mean one too (what can you do?!) At least they still come to mom when they cry! And seriously Madilyn does have fun a dad, he always made me crack up in primary! Still voting him for Primary chorister someday, he would be incredible!
