A quick story where I wish I had a picture! Eight or so years ago my husband saw ducks walking down the street. (I've actually lost count of how many years ago). Weird that they were just walking down the street, but they were. He thought it would be so cute to feed them bread while leading them to our pool, so they could swim in our pool. All ducks need a place to swim. It was cute. We loved it. The kids loved it. And, a little while later we woke up to about 10 baby ducks swimming in our pool. Of course we loved this too! They were adorable. Well, a few days following our discovery of the new baby ducks they were all dead. Some had drown in the pool, some were sucked into the filter and some were torn apart all over the lawn. Cats?? We're not sure. We were saddened by this, but eventually the ducks left. Cute. Until the next year. Yep. The ducks came back. And, a little while later we had baby ducks. This time we actually looked up the duck rescue. There is one. The duck rescue came and retrieved all ducks from our pool. Needless to say we've had pool issues from the ducks as well. We thought all was well.
Until the next year. It's literally like the movie Groundhog's day. This scenario has repeated itself year after year. I keep donating money to the duck rescue when they come to take the babies away. We were told to get rid of the plant they were using the lay the eggs. We froze some of her eggs last year and put them back out there, so there were never babies. We did tear out the plant. We've done all we could. We even ran around the pool last year in our underwear at 5 am shooting the ducks with air soft guns. Yes, we did. Their mating calls were so loud!! They seemed to have left early. We thought we were good.
Until this morning....the duck is back!!! Screaming her mating call!!!! I literally thought it was a nightmare.
All this because my husband thinks every duck needs a place to swim :) We love him (Marcus, not one of the ducks).
To go on...I have to share some "new" pictures of Ethan my sister-in-law, Jess, put on her blog. I love all the pictures because our kids are so dang cute. I just want everyone to notice Ethan because look at the naughtiness you can see already! Yep. Good thing he was cute because otherwise I might not have been as nice to him :) He was just always a handful!
These pictures include the cousins we were just with last week in Ohio.
