Toe Pick!

The title is definitely for Aunt Cara!  We were ice skating for a few hours yesterday and I constantly thought of the bonding moment with my aunt when we watched The Cutting Edge over and over and over.  It's true.  Aunt Cara only has to say "toe pick" and it makes me laugh.  As the boys were discussing whether they had "hockey skates" or "regular skates" the movie just kept coming to mind.

Parker and Madilyn had never been on ice skates before let alone any skates (they're a bit deprived).  So, watching these two step out on the ice was HI-LARIOUS.  It was fun to see the determination to do it.  Parker realized it was a lot harder than he thought.  I guess those figure skaters make it look easier than it is.  His cousins, Hannah, Logan and Collin have all skated before, had lessons, or played hockey.  They raced each other most of the time because our little family was in the learning stages.

This is Collin.  He looks like he has horns, but really he's just skating past the cones.
The cones were such a fun idea.  I hadn't seen that before.  But, let's be honest, when was the last time I stepped foot in an ice rink?  Ummm...I don't remember.  Parker and Madilyn were not brave enough to brave the ice without the cone for a while, but they eventually did.  They both were skating (slowly) around the ice by the end.  They now want to make sure they ice skate at some point when we get home.
I tried getting a picture of everyone here, but they're all pretty small.  Open skate was from 12-3 and it was a school day so we basically had the palace to ourselves.

Logan.  Master on the skates.

Madilyn did fall.

Parker and his learning.

I don't know how to smile, but whatever.

Hannah took a picture first and I looked drugged, this is me trying to have my eyes open.
