Parker

I tend to skip over our cute Parker a lot.  I don't mean to.  He is just so independent, well behaved and holding it all together that I am uncertain what to post about him.  He is just a little adult.  Sometimes too much.  When he comes home and tells me he has corrected his teacher three times that day I get a little concerned.  As a teacher there are a few different types of students that "correct" you.  I try to coach him into being the type that isn't bad.  Just right with his corrections.  The teacher is good, you just can't put anything past Parker.  If its a verb he knows it!  Don't try passing it off for something else.
I wanted to share the journal entry I came across about Parker.  He was five at the time.  I was walking past his room in the morning and I saw him praying, or so I thought.  I waited a bit and went back in and he was still praying.  Not wanting to interrupt if he was or not, I checked a minute later.  He was up and about.  I said, "Parker, were you praying."  He answered, "Yes, mom.  I always say my morning prayers."  In my journal I had written:  Who taught him this?  We are good and I'd like to take credit for it, but he just does it.  I never told him he had to say morning prayers.  The same day a little later he was a bit snotty to me.  I reprimanded him a bit.  After doing that I looked at him and again he looked like he was praying.  I waited and then asked him, "Parker, were you praying?"  He answered and said, "I was asking Heavenly Father to forgive me."  What a cute little boy.  He must listen in church.
Fast forward to tonight. We were setting goals for the new year.  His spiritual goal was to make sure to pray every morning. I think this came from sharing this journal entry with him.
I love that he is such a good kid.  I wish were a better parent for him.  He is constantly loving his brother and sister.  He always helps me!  I sometimes don't want him to go to school because he is such a good help.  But, I am also an advocate of education.
(a sidenote:  while hiking we decided his indian name is "poser on rocks" because he loves me to take a picture while hiking)
Just had to post about him.
We love you, Parker.  You're the best boy.  How are we so lucky?
