I just read These is My Words for the second time. I read it because it was one of MY choices for our book club, and it was chosen. I had a MUCH harder time getting through it this time around. It is a beautiful love story. However, the tragedies throughout this 'journal' are tough to read and to accept. So many times I felt her pain and realized it doesn't do any good to ask WHY? Even though we all want to know "why?" when bad things happen.
I mentioned to my mom that I didn't like it this time because I knew the end. It was much harder to enjoy the good times in the book when I knew how it was going to end (not as good as we'd hope). My mom said back to me, "Maybe that's why God doesn't want us to know the end? We wouldn't enjoy the good times as much??"
Interesting thought. Maybe so.
I do highly recommend this book if you haven't read it (hopefully my thoughts weren't a spoiler):
