One of the things I will wish for from now on is for our children to never have a headache. After living through Ethan's scary moments and it "just being a headache", I don't think my emotions are cut out for any kids with headaches.
On Saturday, Marcus and I were at a fundraiser event for our theatre. My mom was with the children. My mom had to call me because of Madilyn's pain. Madilyn was having a headache. And it was no little headache. I could hear her screaming in the background! I knew there wasn't an MEF (Marilyn exaggeration Factor--my brother named it) at this point. My mom was actually VERY calm, which helped with my nerves. I told her to rush Madilyn to the doctor. I told her to just head to the Urgent Care. I thought that would be okay. I told Marcus what was going on and his initial reaction was to just call 911.
As I was driving home I was realizing that Madilyn had an MRI last year and there wasn't an AVM. You are born with it, so I knew it wasn't what Ethan had. She also just had a CT scan last month because of her ear issues. This knowledge was helping me with the fact that I was pretty sure her headache was "just a headache." I knew she would be okay.
She was diagnosed with a severe sinus headache. Poor girl. They gave her a steroid to help drain her sinuses. She is really having bad sinus issues. She has been feeling so much better since Saturday.
I will keep wishing that our kids won't have headaches, but in the meantime I am grateful my little girl feels better. The sad part about the situation is when she was screaming she said to my mom, "I have a headache. I need to go to the hospital." And when Marcus got home she said, "Daddy, I had a headache like Ethan's."
Obviously scary moments for her too.
