I should really write things down that I am thinking about while I am driving. I have so many thoughts that I would love to share. However, as I sit down this morning, I can't think of one of the things I was hoping to remember. The older I get, the harder remembering is. I do realize that my memory is terrible. I don't remember past events very well.
I think I'll dedicate this blog this morning to my friend, Mendy. Let me tell you about Mendy. Mendy and I met back in college. Our two best friend roommates got married and we were headed on missions. We weren't sure who to room with when we got back so we decided to keep in touch and room together after our missions. We left around the same time, even seeing each other for a week or so in the Missionary Training Center. At the time, my grandma was in the MTC as well. So, when Mendy and I saw her we would both call her grandma Betty. Mendy adopted her well. I mention this because when we returned from our missions and roomed together, my "cute cousin, Michael" moved into the apartment complex next door. He spent a lot of time at our apartment. I thought it was because I was an amazing cousin, but come to find out he liked my roommate, Mendy. To make a long story short, I hated that they started dating because it left me alone (or so I felt), but I did get used to it and loved that they decided to get married.
I tell you this backstory to understand that I have loved my family reunions even more because I have a best friend I get to visit too. We got to spend a little extra time before the reunion with her and my cousin, Michael and family before the actual reunion. They are the best couple. So cute, sooo funny--they do always keep me laughing. Mendy is the one who went to church with me the day after Ethan died. She had me laughing that day too. She has a talent for it. I love this girl. I love that she is a part of my family, which definitely helps me keep in touch with her. Thank you, Mendy, for marrying into the family and for always being a friend. It was great to see you again!
This is where I would post a picture of Mendy but I didn't take any. Weird. I'll get one.
Lucky for all of us that you and Mendy were best friends.
