Palmyra

Our first FULL day of our vacation we headed to Palmyra, New York.  This is a church historical site for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  I had visited these sites as a child, but was excited to take my family back. The Mormon church does have a history here and its awesome to feel of the spirit that is there.  Actually, its a little unbelievable.  It was hard to keep control of our emotions because of how strong the spirit was.

Hannah, Logan, Parker, Madilyn--upstairs of Joseph Smith's home--where he had revelations about the Book of Mormon

Parker, Logan, Madilyn by the fireplace in the Smith home.  Joseph had to hide the Book of Mormon under the bricks here so the mobs would not get it while he was in the midst of translating it.

All of us outside the Smith home.

The printshop where the first Book of Mormon was printed.

Sacred Grove.  And you can definitely feel how sacred it is.

Hill of Cumorah Pageant--tells the story of the Book of Mormon--great production!

Marcus planned our two week trip this summer at least six months in advance.  I knew I wanted to take everyone to see the pageant because its amazing.  Plus, church historical sites are just cool to visit.  However, about a month ago I was at my friend's (Becky) house.  She mentioned she had just scheduled a church history trip for her and her daughter.  I asked what they were doing and when.  We discovered we'd be at the Hill of Cumorah pageant on the same night.  How fun!  They saved us seats (thank you!) and we hung out with them for the evening.  The below picture is of us with characters from the show---one of whom Marcus knew from his theatre here in Mesa.

Sacred Grove
More Sacred Grove, Smith homestead and Printshop photos.  This was one of the most spiritual days we had.  It was awesome.

Sidenote:  the pictures were mostly on our phones, so we have no idea the sizes they will end up....thus, all the different sizes----just trying to keep it exciting.

  1. Kim!! I was just in Palmyra myself, and I did all of the sites your family did! When were you there? I was there in Palmyra July 20-21. If you were there then too, I'm bummed I didn't get to see you! What a funny coincidence!!
