Eleven Years Ago Today

Eleven years ago today I became a mom for the first time!  What a ride.  I remember going to the doctor early in the morning and having him tell me I wasn't dialated or effaced (spelling on either of those words??).  I was already three days past due and my doctor was headed out of town.  He told me I could be induced or just wait and someone else would deliver my baby.  My husband was soo excited, he insisted I be induced.  So, off to the hospital we went.  I cried the whole way there because I was scared.  Marcus has five older sisters who had all had children.  He started calling them in this moment for help in knowing what to say to me (this has proved to helpful more times than just this once).  The doctors told me I'd be there for 3 days before I had a baby because I had no progression.  Well, about 6 hours later I had a baby!!
Here we are .....looking good....

Dear Parker-

You are honestly the best kid I know.  You have taught me how to love, how to be more patient, and how to keep going.  You have taught me to be a mom.  You are the first.  I am learning with you.  I watch all the things you do and I am constantly amazed with you.  Ever since you were 18 months old and could put together your ABC puzzle on your own, you have always surprised me.  You never cease to amaze me with all the facts you can remember and recite. I like to ask you questions because you know so much.

I love how you are with your little sister.  I know it was so difficult losing Ethan, your best friend and brother.  Yet, you are always comforting the rest of us.  You have taught Madilyn how to play again.  You watch over her and make sure she is always okay.  I will never forget this time and how you have helped us all.  You are a little warrior.

I love how you are with Brady.  Brady needs someone to show him the ropes and love him.  You do this.  You care for him like he's your own little guy.  I can't wait for you to teach him and show him what life is all about.

You are awesome at making goals and keeping them.  I love how hard you work at Scouts.  I love how you remember to always pray and read your scriptures.  I love that God is an important part of your life.  I love how over years I constantly have heard stories about what a leader you are.

I hope we can be the best parents for you.  I hope you know we are not perfect but we love you more than ever!!  And you will get spankings every day for the rest of your life!  You are wonderful. You are my best boy!

Love,

Mom
(side note:  we only give spankings as jokes :))

And this morning....breakfast in bed....
